When you update your wordpress blog automatically and then if it fails in between or stops in between you may get this error “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.” while accessing your blog

Caution :

As part of the automatic upgrade WordPress places a file named .maintenance in the blog base folder (folder that contains the wp-admin folder). If that file exists, then vistors will see the message Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.

Solution :

To stop that message from being displayed to vistors, just delete the .maintenance file. It is recommended to execute automatic upgrade again.

Further problem :

Even after deleting .maintenance file. your blog doesn’t show anything and goes blank or with errors. Try to run update again

http:///wp-admin/update-core.php?action=do-core-upgrade

and make sure it finish successfully and if you have set different theme than default then first try to make it default theme. if you can’t access Dashboard you can update it via database (Change WordPress Theme From Database phpMyAdmin)
